While talking to ANI, Sarang Maharaj said that his visit to Dargah came on the occasion of the Ram Pratishtha ceremony anniversary on Wednesday.
He also credited his inspiration for coming to the Dargah to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“The way PM Modi sent the Chadar to this Dargah followed by Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, exuded a sense of unity in India. It inspired me to come here and put chadar on Dargah. There is Lord Ram in every nook and corner. Since I wore a saffron cloth, the people of this mosque also gave me a saffron cloth to wear. People were very respectful towards me during the visit, ” he told ANI.
On January 4, a chadar sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s shrine, which was offered by Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju at the Dargah. That was the 11th time PM Modi offered a chadar at this dargah.
“We live in a country where Muslims are the most protected. As India is inching towards greatness, I request for peace,” he added.
On the question of the ongoing dispute between mosques and temples, and the affected harmony between Hindu and Muslim communities, Sarangi Maharaj said, “No one can divide India. God is everywhere. Wherever you dig, you will find a god.”
He concluded with requesting unity and peace among the citizens of India. The event took place as the Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj is at the peak of its fervour. (ANI)
