Birbhum (West Bengal) [India], September 1 (ANI): Amid the allegations of molestation of a nurse in a hospital in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Dr Himadri Kumar Ari said that the incident is unfortunate and every effort is being made to increase the number of police at the hospital.
“This is an unfortunate incident, such incidents should not happen…I will not be able to tell what the incident is, it is an unfortunate incident, the police have been informed about it and the police have also arrested the culprit. All the work is being done as per the instructions given for security at night, I hope that the security will be even better at night… Civic volunteers live here, we also had a meeting today. We all have criticized it and every effort is being made to increase the number of police here… There is a meeting the day after tomorrow as well, in this there will be a discussion to improve the comprehensive CCTV cameras and security system …” CMOH Dr Himadri Kumar Ari said
Reacting to the incident, opposition in the state BJP lashed out at Mamata Banerjee led government, accusing that the administration has completely failed and police has broken down in the state.
“The administration has completely failed and the police system here has completely broken down. If anyone is responsible for all this, it is Mamata Banerjee, so she has no moral right to remain in her post. It would be good for Bengal if Mamata Banerjee leaves her post”, West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said.

A nurse was allegedly molested in a hospital in West Bengal’s Birbhum district and a minor girl sexually abused in North 24 Parganas district.
Earlier, a trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The incident caused nationwide outrage over the safety and security of the medical staff.
Doctors have been holding protests in different states demanding justice for the victim and enhanced security laws for healthcare professionals.
The incident has triggered a war of words between the BJP, with the latter demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The case has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation from the local police following an order from the Calcutta High Court.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer, at the hospital, has been arrested in connection with the incident. (ANI)
