Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 22 (ANI): The Shimla Police on Saturday questioned the former Independent MLA and BJP’s candidate for Assembly by-elections in Hamirpur, Ashish Sharma, in an alleged horse-trading case during Rajya Sabha elections.
The MLA who was called for questioning, appeared before the police and said that the police officials are harassing him and others named in the case. He said he appeared before the police in Boileauganj police station and after two hours of questioning he was called again after he had left Shimla for Hamirpur.
Ashish Sharma said that the FIR registered against them is baseless and the police officials and politicians are just buying time and diverting him from the election campaign.
“Today I was called by the Shimla Police, I appeared in an investigation for two hours I was on my way back to Hamirpur they called me again. The higher police officials are misusing the power they are doing in the directions of the government. They are trying to buy time as the campaign for the elections is underway they just want to harass me,” Sharma said.
“They are trying to harass the family members and people named in the case. I am hopeful that the dictatorship of the government will be exposed after people will vote for me and get me elected with a bigger margin as I won earlier. I shall raise my voice in the assembly against the dictatorship of the state government,” the BJP leader said.
Sharma has alleged that the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh of promoting and protecting the mining mafia for the benefit of his family. He has sought central agencies to investigate the Mining mafia in Hamirpur area of the state.
“I would request the central agencies to see this / increasing mining mafia in the state. We tried through a small unit to provide good rates of sand and stone to the / people but after monopolizing they are harassing small Units. They are misusing the administrative powers. I hope more leaders of the BJP will campaign and people of the state would / give me blessing this time again,” he further added.
The case was registered at Boileauganj police station of Shimla on March 10 under Section 120B 171 e and c of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 7 and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
