New Delhi [India], January 7 (ANI): Several posters, accusing Congress of taking an about-turn over the Rythu Bharsoa scheme, have been passed outside the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office in Delhi.
The posters read, “Congress Rythu Barosa U turn,” adding, “Warangal Declaration Rahul Gandhi Rs 15,000 per acre. Year 2024 Release to Farmers ZERO. CM Revanth – U Turn Rs 12,000 per acre.”
The poster criticises the “U-turn” taken by the Congress government in Telangana after Rahul Gandhi announced Rs 15,000 per acre to be given to the farmers in the state. However, the poster claimed that no financial aid was released for the farmers in 2024.
The poster also accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of taking a “U-turn” by announcing only Rs 12,000 per acre for the farmers instead of Rs 15,000 that were promised.
This comes after the Congress government in Telangana announced Rs 12,000 per acre annually for the farmers, under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The state government said that it has increased the cash benefits under the scheme by Rs 2,000.
Furthermore, families of landless farm labourers will receive a similar amount annually under the newly introduced Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa scheme, said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy after the Cabinet meeting last week.
Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao accused the Telangana government of betraying its commitment to farmers of the state and announced to hold a protest on January 6 demanding the Congress to raise the assistance to Rs 15,000 per acre as initially promised.
Speaking to ANI, KTR said, “It is a travesty and truly atrocious breach of promise by Congress party in Telangana to deceive and betray farmers of Telangana…Congress party had made a promise, a categorical farmer declaration in Warangal and Rahul Gandhi was here in Telangana. They made a categorical commitment that Rythu Bandhu would be enhanced and each farmer who was getting Rs 10,000 for two crop cycles in Telangana would be given an additional Rs 5000.”
“Unfortunately, today they feel betrayed…I hope Rahul Gandhi will intervene and instruct Revanth Reddy’s Government not to betray the farmers because they promised a delivery in 100 days. But today, it has been more than 400 days. So, as BRS, we have decided that we will protest across the length and breadth of the state tomorrow supporting farmers and demanding that the Congress party keeps up its promise made in the farmer declaration, Rythu declaration, and demanding that Rs 15,000 be given per acre as was promised,” the BRS leader added.
Earlier, CM Reddy announced that all farmers without land will be given Rs 12,000 per year under the newly introduced Indiramma scheme.
The schemes will be launched on January 26, 2025. The Cabinet decided to implement the schemes on the occasion of the completion of 75 years of the coming into effect of the Indian Constitution. The State Cabinet also ratified the proposal to issue new Ration Cards to every eligible family.
The Rythu Bharosa scheme is not applicable to non-agricultural lands (mining, hills, real estate ventures, roads, lands used for residential, industrial, and commercial purposes, lands converted as Nala and the lands acquired by the government for various projects). (ANI)
