Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 19 (ANI): BJP leader Rahul Sinha on Saturday criticised the West Bengal government, accusing them of trying to hide evidence of torture against Hindus in Murshidabad and claiming the police are biased towards the TMC.
Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Rahul Sinha said, “The (West Bengal) government wants to hide how Hindus are tortured in our state. That is why they get a headache when a government team comes here, because they want all the evidence to be erased… It is their old habit to commit atrocities and then discredit the government teams by calling it a political vendetta… What is the issue with the Governor visiting there (Murshidabad)?… This is because the state government doesn’t want anyone to visit the state so they can commit violent atrocities openly… The police here work as a cadre of TMC… If the police did their actual job, there would be no need for any teams or the Governor to visit such areas.”
Sinha also called the police biased, and said that the West Bengal government has an old habit of committing atrocities and then discrediting the government teams by calling it a political vendetta.
The statement comes after the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Women, and West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose visited Murshidabad following the violent outbreak in the district during the protest over the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
A delegation of the National Commission of Women, led by its Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar visited the violence-affected Murshidabad area and said it will submit its report to the Centre.
Rahatkar said the commission will put forth the demands of the people before the government.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Rahatkar said, “The suffering these people are going through is inhuman. We will put their demands in front of the government…”
On her meeting with the family of a father and son duo in Jafrabad, who were allegedly killed in the violent protests, Rahatkar said that she did not have words to describe the pain of the family.
“These people are in so much pain, that I am speechless right now. I don’t have the words to describe their pain,” the NCW Chairperson said.
Rahatkar arrived in Kolkata on Thursday evening to lead an inquiry into the recent violence.
She is part of the probe committee constituted by the NCW, which is on a three-day visit to affected areas in West Bengal, including Malda and Murshidabad. (ANI)
