Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 25 (ANI): As the preparations for the upcoming elections to 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra have intensified and the model code of conduct is in force, Mumbai Police have recovered Rs 30 lakh cash from a car and two people were taken into custody on Friday.
Mumbai Police said, “Mumbai police recovered Rs 30 lakh cash from a car; two people were taken into custody and are being questioned. Income Tax department has also been informed.”
During the Model Code of Conduct for elections, those carrying cash above Rs 50,000 must have valid documents, while no paperwork is required for amounts less than that.
Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) — comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress — are carrying out hectic meetings to iron out the differences over seat-sharing issues.
