Yamuna Nagar (Haryana) [India], January 29 (ANI): Slamming Aam Admi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his Haryana government “poisoning” Yamuna water, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that such allegations reflect “narrow thinking”.
On Monday, Kejriwal levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that the BJP-ruled Haryana government has “poisoned” the Yamuna water supplied to Delhi so that “people die” and the blame comes on the AAP.
CM Saini said, “We consider rivers as our mother, worship them but there are some people in this country who say that poison has been mixed in the rivers. These are people with different ideologies, they have their own thinking. They do not care about our culture and values… Some people even said that there was no Ram here.”
Taking a swipe at Kejriwal, Saini told a gathering, “We consider the whole world as one, this is our family, how can we mix poison and feed it to our family members, this is their narrow thinking …”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday also came down heavily on Kejriwal for his remarks.
Addressing a public rally in Ghonda, PM Modi said, “People of ‘aapda’ say that people of Haryana poison in water sent to Delhi. This is not just an insult to Haryana but to all Indians. Ours is a country where providing drinking water is considered a good deed…Such fear of losing that they are saying anything. I am sure Delhi will teach a lesson to people who say such things. In aapda walon ki llutiya Yamuna mein hi doobegi…”
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats in the national capital.
The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced major setbacks in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats. In contrast, AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, securing 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of 70, while BJP won only three and eight seats in these elections.(ANI)
