New Delhi [India], December 28 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday expressed deep grief over the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying that he gave the nation a new direction and will always be remembered.
“It is a moment of extreme grief. Dr Manmohan Singh is no longer with us… He gave a new direction to the nation. May God grant him peace… This is the fate, but Dr Singh will always remain in our memories,” CM Soren told ANI.
The Jharkhand CM, along with his wife and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Kalpana Soren, visited the residence of Dr Manmohan Singh in Delhi to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and wife of Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren, also paid tribute, saying that Dr Singh kept the country strong.
“… The nation was his (Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh) family… The nation has lost a person who kept his family and the whole country strong… We pray that his soul rests in peace,” Kalpana Soren told ANI.
The last rites of Dr Manmohan Singh are to be performed at the Nigambodh Ghat in the national capital on Saturday afternoon.
Dr Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, on Thursday evening at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. He had a sudden loss of consciousness at home after which he was rushed to the AIIMS Delhi.
Dr Manmohan Singh’s political career spanned several decades, with notable positions including Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, during which he spearheaded economic reforms that transformed India’s economy.
