Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 6 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday assured that Gorakhpur would not be divided into two parts during the rainy season this year, further stating that special attention had to be paid to cleanliness in the neighbourhoods of the city.
Addressing a program organised for the inauguration of Kalyan Mandapam in the newly created ward Surajkund of Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation, the CM spoke on the issue of climate change, saying that all individuals needed to plant one tree, further stating that there was an urgent need to work on rejuvenating rivers.
“Gorakhpur will not be divided into two parts during the rainy season this year. Corporators should ensure special attention is given to cleanliness in their respective neighbourhoods. When climate change occurs, it does not affect just one individual, but the entire society. Therefore, everyone must plant at least one tree. Rivers are disappearing, and to avoid a severe water crisis, we must work on rejuvenating the rivers. Trees should be planted along both banks of rivers. Planting a tree is part of our duty toward Mother Nature,” CM Yogi said.
He further stated that a nursery with 50 crore plants was prepared for the campaign on climate change, further stating that solid preparations had been made by the Municipal Corporation for solid waste management, which would benefit everyone.
“A nursery with 500 million (50 crore) plants has been prepared for this entire campaign. Out of these, 350 million (35 crore) plants will be planted. The Municipal Corporation has made solid preparations for solid waste management. Everyone will benefit from it,” he added.
Yogi also said that Gorakhpur now had four-lane roads, further stating that preparations were underway for the establishment of an AYUSH university, which would be inaugurated soon.
“All roads in Gorakhpur have become four-lane roads. Balapar, Kushinagar, Pipraich, Deoria and Maharajganj have become four-lane roads. Preparations are also underway for the establishment of AYUSH university in the city, the inauguration of which will be done soon…A food court is also being constructed in the Indira Bal Vihar for dining purposes, and a multi-level parking is going to be constructed at Bandhu Singh Park,” he added.
