Gonda (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 18 (ANI): Expressing grief over the Dibrugarh Express train derailment that claimed two lives, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the injured have been taken to hospital and will be given proper treatment.
The UP CM stated that rescue and relief operations are underway. He also directed the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work.
“The train accident in Gonda district is extremely sad. District administration officials have been directed to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing and to take the injured to the hospital on top priority and provide them proper treatment. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for the speedy recovery of the injured,” UP CM Yogi Adityanath wrote in a post on X.
Gonda MP Kirti Vardhan Singh also reached the spot of the accident said that rescue operations are underway and arrangements are being made to take the rest of the passengers to the main road.
“I have met all the officials. All the injured people have been sent to Mankapur CHC and Gonda. We are making arrangements to take the rest of the passengers to the main road and the administration is also making arrangements. A bus has been arranged for them so that they can reach Mankapur railway station. A special relief train will come from Gorakhpur and through this train, the passengers will be taken to their respective places,” Kirti Vardhan Singh said while speaking to ANI.
Pankaj Singh, CPRO, North Eastern Railway confirmed that two lives have been claimed in the accident and seven people have been injured.
“The train got derailed between Motiganj and Dhilai… 7 people were injured out of which 6 people suffered minor injuries, and 2 people died… Our priority is to complete the rescue operation at the earliest so that trains start plying on the route again… A helpline number has been established. A special train will be run for the passengers of this train to take them to their destination… The railway team has reached the spot to work on the restoration of the railway track,” Pankaj Singh, CPRO, North Eastern Railway said while speaking to ANI.
SP Vineet Jaiswal while speaking to the media said, “Till now, 2 people have lost their lives in the incident. Around 6 people are seriously injured and they have been shifted to the hospital. Few others have minor injuries and they are being given first aid in the nearby CHC… The coaches have been checked twice, no more people are trapped there…”
Uttar Pradesh’s Relief Commissioner informed on X that one NDRF team each was sent from Lucknow and Balrampur to Gonda.

“Five ambulances were deployed for rescue operations in the train accident and orders have been given to send more ambulances to the spot. First aid is being given to the injured. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. SDRF teams sent from three districts to expedite relief operations,” it said on X. (ANI)
