Etawah (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 20 (ANI): Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav said that the BJP has been losing in the Uttar Pradesh by-polls. She added that the BJP’s hooliganism is going on continuously wherever elections are taking place.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party is losing, and the kind of rumours they are constantly spreading show that they are losing badly. BJP’s hooliganism is going on continuously, and wherever elections are taking place, we have seen that the entire administration is working like an agent of the BJP. If such incidents are happening where people are being stopped from casting their votes, then I think this is a very serious matter,” said Dimple Yadav.
Slamming the BJP over the ‘batenge toh katenge’ slogan, the Samajwadi Party MP said, “They (BJP) have lost the Lok Sabha elections and are scared somewhere; that is why they are using the entire administration… I do not think that this (batenge toh katenge) slogan is going to get any place… This time our PDA voters are ready and will work to remove the BJP from Uttar Pradesh in the coming times.”
Earlier in the day, the Samajwadi Party alleged that the police are affecting voting in all nine seats in Uttar Pradesh where by-polls are underway, while the BJP has written a letter to the Election Commission complaining about “fake voting,” specifically in Kundarki and Sisamau seats.
“At booth number 357,422 in Kundarki assembly constituency of Moradabad, police are harassing voters and affecting voting. The Election Commission should take cognisance; fair voting should be ensured,” the party alleged on X.
On the other side, the Uttar Pradesh BJP wrote a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer alleging that fake ID cards are being provided to the people who came from outside to cast their vote.
Voting is underway at nine seats in Uttar Pradesh–Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Sishamau, Phulpur, Katehari, and Majhawan.
The by-elections in Uttar Pradesh are significant for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which suffered a major setback in the state, winning only 36 out of 80 seats in the last general elections. (ANI)
