Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 20 (ANI): The Assam government aims to issue land passbooks to all landowners within two years with the launch of Mission Basundhara 3.0, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa said in a press conference on Sunday.
Assam CM launched Mission Basundhara 3.0 at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati today. The CM said that the mission aims to grant land rights to the indigenous people of the state.
“In Basundhara 3, our aim is to give the services we could not provide during Basundhara 1.0 and 2.0. Some of them require some legislative changes, some require technology changes. This Basundhara 3 is a final package, so our people can reap these benefits. If this mission goes smoothly, then in Assam there will be no legacy problem regarding land rights. Then later on we can also start the process of issuing land passbooks to people. This is a massive land reform opportunity. This has never happened in the state,” said CM Sarma.
Highlighting the various other land reforms which were taken up in the state, he added, “Assam has initiated a series of land reforms including converting non-cadastral village to cadastral village and we are taking huge benefit from Prime Minister SVAMITVA scheme. Within next one or two years Assam will go to the extent of issuing land passbook to our landowners.”
Mission Basundhara 1.0 was originally launched on October 2, 2021, followed by Mission Basundhara 2.0 in November 2022.
CM Biswa Sarma also commented on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) releasing list of candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections and expressed confidence on the BJP forming the government in the state.
“The list has been published, I hope that our party makes the government,” he said.
On asked whether the party would get an absolute majority in the assembly elections, he said, “I am a guest in this state, that our leaders can tell. Whether it will be absolute or we will make government that the people will tell us, but with the things I have seen, I think the BJP-NDA government will be made.”
Jharkhand assembly elections are set to be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. Vote counting will be held on November 23. (ANI)
