Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], February 12 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP State President K Annamalai on Wednesday launched a veiled attack on Chief Minister MK Stalin, stating how the latter will know the pain of the common person if he travels in a luxury car. His response came days after Stalin accused the Central government of withholding funds from Tamil Nadu.
“Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has criticized Union Budget 2025. If you travel in a luxury car, then how will you (MK Stalin) know the pain of the common public? Have you ever got a milk packet from a shop?…BJP meetings are different from DMK meetings; we don’t bring people by providing money,” Annamalia told reporters here.
He also referred to a recent DMK meeting.
He alleged, “Recently, at the DMK meeting, where Chief Minister MK Stalin participated, they provided 300 rupees per person and showed the crowd. BJP meetings are different because our cadres come here without any expectations, and they have participated in this meeting on their own for the welfare of our State and country…”
Stalin on Saturday took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and stated that they did not like Tamil Nadu because it was a non-BJP-ruled state. Stalin accused the central government of withholding funds from Tamil Nadu.
“BJP does not like Tamil Nadu because it is a non-BJP-ruled state… the Central government is refusing to give funds to Tamil Nadu. If the central government does not change it’s mindset, then day by day they will lose respect…” he had said.
Stalin also said the central government had not met the needs of the people.
“Central government’s budget has not met the needs of the people. Farmers have been agitating for the last four years and their main demand for minimum support price has not been announced. Only two per cent has been allocated for education and 1.8 percent for health…. No scheme has been announced for Tamil Nadu… Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is proud of being a Tamilian, why is she constantly betraying Tamil Nadu which is the backbone of the country?” Stalin said.
Meanwhile a new Income Tax bill is slated to be introduced in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The first part of budget session will continue till February 14. (ANI)
