Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 22 (ANI): Former Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Rajkumar Badole joined the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday.
Badole joined the party in the presence of NCP chief and state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at an event in Mumbai.
After joining the NCP, Badole, a former MLA from Arjuni-Morgaon constituency in Maharashtra’s Gondia, praised the Mahayuti government, stating that it has achieved significant progress in Maharashtra over the past 2.5 years.
“In the last 2.5 years, the Mahayuti government has done a lot of good work in Maharashtra. The NCP will contest the elections in the Mahayuti alliance from the place where I contest. We feel that this government should come back to power in Maharashtra,” Badole said.
Badole served in the 13th Maharashtra legislative assembly. He was a cabinet minister in Devendra Fadnavis-led government.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said that the party would seek votes from the public based on the government’s work over the past two years.
“We are working towards how all communities, whether minorities, SC/ST, or any other group, can develop… We do not have much problem with seat sharing,” Pawar said.
Earlier today, Maharashtra Kesri and Hind Kesri wrestler Dinanath Singh joined the NCP in Mumbai.
Along with Singh, several other wrestlers, including Hind Kesari wrestler Amol Barate, Akshay Hirgude, Maharashtra Kesari wrestler Akshay Garud, Sub-Maharashtra Kesari wrestler Yuvraj Wahag, Sagar Garuda, Maharashtra Champion Rishikesh Bhande, Mumbai Kesari wrestler Aba Kale, and Pune Mayor Kesari wrestler Sonba Kale, also joined the NCP.
Ajit Pawar’s NCP is contesting the upcoming assembly elections in alliance with the BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena won 56 seats, and the Congress secured 44 seats. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, while the Shiv Sena won 63 and the Congress 42. (ANI)
