Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], September 5 (ANI): Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat on Thursday highlighted the key role of teachers and said that when teachers perform their duties with dedication and honesty, they can drive significant societal change on the occasion of Teachers Day.
Speaking at the ‘Best Teacher Award’ ceremony held here, he said, “It is the teacher’s role to shape exceptional people, and they are vital in building nations, societies, and families. The foundation of happiness and peace depends on them.”
Governor Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel honoured 28 teachers with the ‘Best Teacher Award’ during the ceremony organised by the Education Department.
Additionally, certificates were presented to 10 students who benefitted from the Mukhyamantri Gyan Sadhana Scholarship and the Mukhyamantri Gyan Setu Merit Scholarship. Education Minister Kuber Dindor and Minister of State for Education Praful Pansheriya were present at the event.
Devvrat, who dedicated 35 years as a Gurukul principal teaching education, culture, and health, referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book Kelave Te Kelavani (If It Enriches You, Its Education). In it, the Prime Minister notes that teachers who neglect their duties can have severe repercussions for families, society, and the nation.
The governor urged teachers to go beyond basic instruction, stressing that teachings on virtues such as non-violence and truth should be imparted in a way that deeply influences students’ lives. He also drew on the example of Maharishi Uddalak and King Ashvapati Kaikeya, highlighting that King Kaikeya’s kingdom, influenced by dedicated teachers and principals, was free from thieves, addicts, illiterates, miscreants, and misers and that daily worship was practiced in every home.
The governor conveyed his belief that teachers have the potential to foster such positive conditions in the state. Recognising that even the youngest children have a great capacity for understanding, he encouraged teachers to ignite their students’ potential, helping them to overcome ignorance and embrace their significant responsibilities.
As the Prime Minister works towards building an ‘Atmanirbhar’ and ‘Viksit Bharat,’ the Governor congratulates the teachers, noting that if educators commit to the mission of shaping the best people, India can achieve its goal of becoming a Vishva Guru. (ANI)
