New Delhi [India], May 5 (ANI): BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay on Sunday said that the party has instructed all its MLAs to intensify their outreach efforts by taking key government schemes directly to the people.
Speaking on education reforms, Upadhyay said, “There is a bill regarding the uncontrolled fee hikes in Delhi schools. We are not against the schools, but we want to help parents.”
He stressed that the objective is to strike a balance between institutional autonomy and parental affordability.
After the Delhi cabinet has approved the School Fee Act, aimed at regulating fee increases in all private schools across the city, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Act will bring transparency to the fee structure of 1,677 private schools.
The CM emphasised that the Act will ensure fees are regulated transparently, putting an end to arbitrary fee hikes. She claimed that previous governments had allowed fees to increase unchecked, but her government has taken a step to address this issue.Rekha Gupta also expressed hope that the Act will lead to a revamp of the government school system, making them attractive enough for parents to prefer them over private schools. She envisioned a future where government schools would be the preferred choice for parents.
Addressing civic issues, Satish Upadhay acknowledged the recurring problem of waterlogging in the capital.
“Efforts are ongoing, and we will ensure that the national capital doesn’t face this issue,” he added, reaffirming the party’s commitment to improving infrastructure and urban resilience.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that her government is committed to progress in every sector and is working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the well-being of the residents of the national capital.
Speaking to media persons, CM Gupta said, “Delhi govt is working 24×7 for the people of Delhi. Whether the people of Delhi are facing difficulties because of weather, roads, or potholes, we will be working on each and every segment. We have to finish the backlog of 27 years.”
Highlighting the government’s efforts to resolve waterlogging situations in the national capital, CM Gupta said,
“Record-breaking rain was registered in Delhi, but it took us an hour to improve the waterlogging situation. CM, Minister, MLAs were on the streets yesterday for the people of Delhi. Whether it is Sunday or Monday, the Secretariat opens every day, and work is done here.”
On Friday, Delhi recorded 78mm of rainfall till 8:30 am, the second highest in 24 hours since 1901. The most rainfall was recorded at 119.3 mm on May 20, 2021, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The highest rainfall was recorded at Lodhi Road – 78 mm, just ahead of Safdarjung Airport, which recorded 77mm. According to IMD, moisture and wind convergence over the area from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, assisted by a persistent, highly favourable synoptic pattern at both lower and middle tropospheric levels, resulted in heavy rainfall.
